What is there to do?

The best thing to do at the farm is to slow down and just enjoy the time. Take a break from screens and simply enjoy something a little different. We are a quiet corner of the prairie, staffed by people who are very passionate about artisan food, regenerative agriculture, and animal welfare. You can enjoy a meal at our restaurant, Caprae, sit under our pavilion and share a bottle of wine and a cheese board, go for a walk on our walking trail, shop our cheeses, fresh gelato and other local products in our farm store, and during most of the year, visit with our goats.

We are a working farm, so our herd isn't always available for viewing. Sometimes, they are out at pasture, or it may be milking time. When they are in and around the barns, you are welcome to scratch heads, pet necks and take pictures. When they are out at pasture, you can enjoy the view of happy animals on healthy land. Stop into the farm store and ask for a cheese sample! You'll be presented with a small sample of our freshest cheeses, made right on the farm, and a menu of our current offerings. You can purchase cheese and gelato in the store to take home with you or to enjoy at the farm at one of our many picnic or pavilion tables.

Visit our Caprae page to learn more about dining at our restaurant. We are open for dinner Tuesdays (taco night!) through Saturday (relaxed yet elevated dining) as well as on Saturdays and Sundays for our famous farm brunches. We have a full bar open during all dining hours. Table service is available in our dining room and patio, or you are welcome to order drinks and cheese boards at the bar and then seat yourself under our pavilion.

Come to a class! Learn a new skill or come to a fun game night! We host cooking, art, and homestead skill classes throughout the week along with fun, family freindly events on manby weekends. Visit our event page to learn about upcoming farm events and to reserve class and event tickets.

Are children welcome?

Of course! We love to see children at the farm. Just know that we do not have any (human) kid-specific activities outside of scheduled children's classes and events. As we are a working farm, you must keep a very close eye on your children at all times. Equipment and animals can be unpredictable, and we ask that you take that seriously and prepare your children for the visit accordingly. All children must be particularly supervised when visiting with our goats, and please remind them not to attempt to feed our animals anything.

Our restaurant's dinner menu is elevated, and while we love the opportunity to introduce children to slow food, prepared mindfully with quality local ingredients, we do not have a kids' menu. Younger children and kids with pickier palates may be more comfortable on our Tuesday taco nights and weekend brunches, which are very family-friendly. We also have snacks and drinks to pair with our cheese and gelato in the farm store, along with children's books and a small toy selection (mostly goat themed!).

Where do I park?

Upon arrival, please look for RED flags indicating the entrance to our parking lot. It may be muddy or slippery (as we are a working farm), so please use caution when walking to and from your vehicle. If you require ADA parking, please proceed 100 yards north on Lincoln Ave to the driveway marked with a BLUE flag indicating Reserved Parking. There is a concrete pad with a paved walkway leading you to the entrance of Caprae. Drivers are welcome to pull forward to the reserved parking area to drop off guests that may wish to avoid walking in from the parking lot. Please do not drive past the ADA reserved parking area. The main drive up to the barns is reserved for staff and service vehicles only.

How can I stay updated on farm hours and events?

To stay up to date on the latest farm happenings—including open hours and special events—sign up for our weekly e-newsletter or follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

What does the Caprae restaurant offer?

Our on-site restaurant, Caprae, is open Tuesday - Saturday for dinner and Saturday and Sunday for brunch, and features a full menu, including cheese and charcuterie boards, small bites, beer and wine by the glass, and a seasonal cocktail selection. Learn more here and make reservations here

Are pets allowed on the farm?

Because we are a working farm with animals, pets are not allowed. Please leave dogs, cats, and other pets at home. If you are traveling with a pet, they must remain in your car with the window open during your visit.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We are a cashless business. We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as Apple Pay and Cash App.

I love goats & gardening, how can I get involved?

We love goats and gardening too! We also love our volunteers! Our volunteer program is perfect for people looking to learn about regenerative farming, responsible animal husbandry or who just want to spend a few hours a week someplace really pretty, hanging out with wonderful people doing something really fun. Our volunteer program is for individuals aged 18 and up who are willing to make a commitment to volunteer for more than just one shift. We do not have any volunteer opportunities for children. Groups interested in one-time volunteer opportunities are welcome to reach out to inquire, and our farm educator will be in touch. VetMed students and AG/ACES students from Parkland and UIUC are always very welcome!

How can I learn more about the farm?

If you are interested in a deeper dive into our farm's operations, we welcome you to join us for our weekly Farm Tours on Fridays at 3:00pm. Our farm educator will take you on a 1-hour tour, explaining our farm systems and the stories behind our amazing cheeses. All ages are welcome, but participants must be comfortable walking over uneven ground. Tickets for our weekly tours are available here.

Can I purchase gift cards?

Give the gift of artisan cheese! Gift cards can be purchased here

Gift cards can also be used for all purchases at the farm and at our farmers market stands in Urbana, Champaign and Bloomington.

Do you sell raw milk?

No, we do not sell our goat's milk. All of our milk is used to make cheese, gelato or is used in our restaurant.
