Whether you're bottle-feeding baby goats during spring kidding season, sharing your knowledge as a weekend goat guide, or nurturing our gardens alongside our Horticulture Manager, your contribution helps create the extraordinary experiences our farm is known for.

Ready to begin your volunteer journey at Prairie Fruits Farm? Join us on select days or evenings for our comprehensive volunteer training program! This essential first step provides you with everything you need to know before jumping into any of our exciting volunteer opportunities.

Orientation Sign Up

Kidding Season (March-May)

Embrace the joy of spring by helping care for our baby goats. Volunteers assist with feeding schedules available 3 times a day, choosing time slots that fit their schedule. All volunteers receive comprehensive training through our orientation program.

Dairy Helper (June-December)

Learn all about our herd and assist the team with tasks such as feeding and watering, health and wellness checks, cleaning and maintenance, assisting with milking, and record keeping. You will always volunteer alongside a team member.

Goat Docent (March-December)

Share your passion for animals as a weekend goat docent during our public hours. Help visitors connect with our goats and assist during special events like "Babies & Brunch," "Fall Fest," and our "Holiday Goat Photo Booth."

Goat Hike Leader (April-December)

Help visitors connect with our goats and lead educational walks Tuesday evenings, Saturday mornings, or Sunday afternoons.

Garden Helper (Seasonal)

Work alongside our Farm Team to maintain our beautiful grounds, manage composting systems, and tend to our fruits and vegetables. This role offers a peaceful environment where your efforts directly contribute to the farm's sustainability and beauty.

Chicken Helper (April-December)

Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery has been awarded SARE grant FNC26-1489, “Evaluating Poultry Grazing Strategies for Parasite Reduction and Pasture Health in Goat and Sheep Rotational Grazing”. See this link for the full proposal: https://projects.sare.org/proposals/1279735/23723/

We are seeking volunteers to assist with performing hands-on pasture measurements, chicken care, and fecal egg counts to test our hypotheses. These activities are divided into two volunteer opportunities – one focused on the pasture and chickens, and another focused on the goats. You’re welcome to join for both!

Volunteer Quick Facts

Our volunteer program is for individuals 18 and up (with the exception of Family Volunteer Days) who are able to commit to more than just one shift. A liability release waiver is required for all volunteers.

Interested in Volunteering as a Group?

Community and corporate groups and families are invited to participate in volunteer days held on the farm on a regular basis. These predetermined days are a great way to learn about regenerative agriculture, build community connections, and support the local food system.

We host groups of up to 18 people from February to December. Private volunteer days are also available.

Family Volunteer Day: Saturday, September 12 from 10am to noon - SIGN UP HERE

Tasks will included removing invasive species and cleaning up the orchard.

Group Volunteer Day: Thursday, September 24 from 9-11am - SIGN UP HERE

The volunteer events include a farm tour paired, regenerative farm projects, community building opportunities, and a fresh cheese tasting or gelato.

Volunteers generally support one or more of the following tasks:

Harvesting fresh produce
Preparing beds for planting and weeding
Maintaining the orchard
Planting seeds and seedlings
General farm maintenance and cleanup
Maintaining our compost systems
