GET INVOLVED AT PFFC! - VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Do you love baby goats? Are you good with people? Do you want to get your hands dirty? Volunteering at Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery is THE place to be!
Prairie Fruits Farm offers a volunteer "Kidding Season" program. Volunteers help feed and take care of the babies in the spring. Kidding season starts in early March, and runs through late April to early May. Volunteers need to be able to spend an hour or two at the farm, in a time slot that best fits their individual schedule. We are looking for volunteers to spend time with the babies for feedings in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Tentative feeding schedules are 7 am, noon, and 4:30 pm. To participate you must attend an orientation. Orientation for all volunteers is Sunday March 1st at 3:00 pm. To get more information, contact us here.
When it comes to the real dirt at the farm…how about some organic gardening?!? We have a diverse organic garden and orchard. Volunteers can plant, weed, and maintain the garden and orchard. Volunteers can learn the benefits of organic garden, and take home some of the fruits of their labor. We use our garden and herbs extensively for our Dinners on the Farm. We also do some canning and preserving. Several of our gelato and sorbetto flavors are freshly picked from the farm as well.
During busy events, we often have volunteers help attend to customers in our farm store or manage the crowds in the goat barns. These shifts are usually 2 hours, and we often provide free food and/or beverages in exchange for help.
