About the event
Wildcrafting: Black Walnut Cordial
Friday, March 27, 6:30-8:00 PM
Explore wildcrafting with Berries and Flour! In this session, you will get the chance to prepare preserved young black walnuts for the Italian black walnut liqueur called nocino. This dark, rich syrup is earthy, & herbal, with notes of nut, spice, citrus, and a lovely bitterness.
We will provide all of the basic ingredients, including local Down East Vodka (Silver Tree Beer & Spirits in Paxton), and you will have the opportunity to customize your concoction with other local herbs, berries, spices, and edible flowers.
While we work, we will talk about the natural and culinary history of black walnut trees (Juglans nigra).
