Discover the magic of natural dyeing in this immersive indigo workshop, where you’ll learn how to create rich, layered shades of blue using one of the world’s oldest dye traditions. From pale sky tones to deep indigo hues, you’ll explore how subtle variations in technique can produce beautifully unique results.

This hands-on class blends science, art, and tradition—offering a rewarding experience for anyone curious about natural color and textile processes.

What You'll Do

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to mix and maintain your own indigo dye vat, then use it to dye fabric to your desired shade of blue. You’ll experiment with dipping techniques and observe the fascinating transformation as fabric oxidizes from green to blue.

You’ll also prepare your fabric and complete a finished dyed item to take home, along with the knowledge to continue dyeing on your own.

You'll Learn:

  • How to create and balance an indigo dye vat

  • Differences between types of indigo vats

  • Techniques for achieving a range of blue tones

  • How to prepare fabric for successful dyeing

  • Methods for maintaining and reusing your dye vat
