About the event

Farm Tour & Cheese Tasting

Every Friday at 5:30 PM through October | $10 per person | 30 minutes | Meets at the Farm Store

Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery opened in 2004 as Illinois' first farmstead creamery, built on the idea that the best cheese starts with well-cared-for goats and healthy land. Join us for a 30-minute guided walk through our gardens and barns to hear how that idea shaped this farm, and where it's headed next.

This guided tour covers our regenerative farming practices, introduces you to our herd of Nubian and LaMancha goats, and gives you a real look at how a working farmstead creamery operates. The tour wraps up back at the Farm Store with a tasting of a few of our current seasonal cheeses.

What's included:

  • Guided 30-minute walking tour of the farm

  • A seasonal cheese tasting at the Farm Store

Make an evening of it: Caprae, our on-farm restaurant, is open Tuesday through Friday from 4 to 9 PM, so a Friday tour leaves plenty of time for dinner after. Reserve a table at https://www.exploretock.com/prairie-fruits-farm, or skip the reservation and order a cheese board and a glass of wine instead. Before you go, stop into the Farm Store for cheese, honey, jam, flour, and other local products.

Good to know:
