Unwind and explore creativity through pattern and design in this calming, beginner-friendly Zentangle workshop. In this session, you’ll create a unique piece of word art by applying simple, meditative tangle patterns to a word of your choice—resulting in a decorative and meaningful artwork to take home.

Set in a relaxed atmosphere with quiet background music, this workshop encourages you to slow down, focus, and enjoy the process of making. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase from the café as you work.

What You'll Do

 Using an artist’s pen and paper, you’ll design and create a Zentangle-inspired message from start to finish. You’ll begin by choosing a word that inspires you, then build your composition by layering simple, repetitive patterns that create texture and visual interest. With guided instruction, you’ll develop a finished piece that reflects your personal style and creativity.

About Your Instructor

 Sara Jones is a multi-craft cosplay competitor living in Champaign-Urbana. She works across a wide range of materials and mediums, including 2D and 3D fabrics, EVA foam, paint, LED and motor-driven electronics, painting, and leather. Sara believes that everyone deserves to find joy in the process of making art rather than focusing on perfection in the final product. Her teaching emphasizes hands-on guidance, clear instruction, and building confidence while encouraging students to trust their own creative instincts.

Parking: General parking is available in the gravel lot. ADA parking is located south of the farmhouse. The classroom is in the white building with black trim west of the gardens. Check in at the farm store at the front of the building.
