Create a striking botanical centerpiece in this design-forward workshop featuring live carnivorous butterworts arranged on floating lava rock inside a shallow glass bowl. Combining sculptural stone, pure water, and the jewel-toned beauty of Pinguicula, this workshop offers a fascinating introduction to one of the plant world’s most unique species.
Butterworts are carnivorous plants known for their glistening leaves, compact rosette shape, and vibrant colors. During this workshop, guests will learn how these unusual plants grow, why they thrive in mineral-free water environments, and how to style and maintain a floating rock garden at home.
What You'll Do
During this hands-on workshop, you’ll build your own floating rock garden using lava rock, a live butterwort, and decorative finishing materials arranged in a shallow glass vessel. You’ll learn the fundamentals of butterwort care, including water quality, lighting, and long-term maintenance, while creating a sculptural living display designed to elevate any space.
By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a completed carnivorous butterwort bowl and the knowledge needed to care for it successfully at home.
