What a difference a week makes. Last week this time, we were battening down the hatches as the temperature plummeted over 30 degrees, the wind howled and the snow started to fall from the skies. Now we are approaching balmy temperatures in the mid-50's along with a little rain. We hope you were able to celebrate the holidays despite the adverse weather conditions.
Looking toward ringing the New Year, we wanted to let folks who live nearby that we will have limited open hours on Saturday, December 31st: 9 am to 1 pm. If you're having a gathering, consider ordering a special holiday cheese platter to pick up that day (11 am to 1 pm).
If your plans are more subdued, come on out to pick up some cheeses, accompaniments and a bottle of Illinois Sparkling Wine (the local alternative to Champagne--AND just as good I might add). We have Brut, Rose and Pet Nat available. If you haven't tried this sparkling wine, you're in for a treat. Cheese-wise, we'll have:
Fresh Chevre (plain, herbs de Provence, cracked pepper)
Angel Food-mini brie and large format wheels
Little Bloom on the Prairie-perfectly ripe (and ready for a baked brie appetizer)
Goldenrod--the last of this Saison-beer washed-rind beauty--super ripe and luscious
Mixed milk feta--excellent for a winter salad or atop your hearty winter stews
Everton Reserve and Briana from Jacobs and Brichford (IN)
We'll have a few pints of gelato for sale, eggs from Joyful Wren Farm, goat milk hot chocolate or hot cider for you to sip on while you shop, pantry essentials (cheese, eggs, coffee) and even gift items.
We are planning to host a few winter events in January and February--"Dote on the Does" Farm Staples Pick-Ups, etc. so stay tuned for details. We wish everyone a happy and healthy new year.
