Art at the Farm: Embroidered by Nature – Framed Portraits

July 25, 2026, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

$30 per person

Discover the art of embroidered portraiture in this creative, beginner-friendly workshop designed to introduce you to the expressive possibilities of needle and thread. In Embroidered by Nature: Framed Portraits, you'll learn foundational embroidery techniques while creating a simple stitched portrait displayed in its own decorative frame.

Whether you're interested in textile arts, illustration, or simply exploring a new creative medium, this workshop offers a welcoming environment to experiment with portrait design and hand embroidery. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, you'll learn how a few simple stitches can bring personality, character, and artistry to your work.

By combining basic embroidery techniques with portrait composition, you'll create a unique piece that celebrates both craftsmanship and creativity.

What You'll Do

During this hands-on workshop, you'll design and embroider a simple portrait using a variety of beginner-friendly stitches. With step-by-step guidance from instructor Sara Jones, you'll learn how to create outlines, add texture and detail, and develop a portrait that reflects your own artistic style.

As you work, you'll gain confidence using embroidery tools and materials while exploring the creative process of translating a portrait into stitched form. Your project will be mounted in a frame, making it easy to continue working on at home or display once completed.

By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with a partially completed embroidered portrait in a frame and the skills needed to continue developing the piece on your own.

You'll Learn:

  • Split stitch techniques for outlines and facial features

  • French knot techniques for texture and decorative details
